Grubhub delivery fee and fees for restaurants

Grubhub charges a restaurant a marketing commission of 5%, 15%, or 20%, by plan, plus a delivery fee starting at 10% when its drivers deliver. This page lists each fee from Grubhub's own pricing page and prices it at three sales levels.

Grubhub fees by plan

Grubhub splits its charge in two. The marketing commission is a share of each order and depends on the plan. The delivery fee applies only when Grubhub's drivers deliver, and it starts at 10%.

  • Basic: Delivery orders 5% + 10%, Pickup orders 5%
  • Plus: Delivery orders 15% + 10%, Pickup orders 15%
  • All-access: Delivery orders 20% + 10%, Pickup orders 20%
  • Self delivery pays no delivery fee, so you owe only the marketing commission.
  • Rates do not include payment processing fees, and the page gives no amount for them.
  • Pricing in select markets may differ, and New York City has its own page.
  • Grubhub Direct, its commission-free ordering site, charges no marketing commission on online orders.

Grubhub does not publish its card processing fee on this page, so it is left out and each Grubhub figure is a minimum.

Each column prices the same month of sales on both sides, at a $30 average order. It assumes every dollar sold here would be ordered direct instead, which will not happen in full. Treat it as a scale, not a forecast.

What the same sales cost direct on Appetier

Appetier Growth charges a flat monthly fee set by your direct sales. A month up to $500 is free, and the fee stops at $199 a location. Card processing is extra, at the standard online rate of 2.9% + 30¢ an order or your own processor's rate. No order carries a commission.

What Appetier does not do

Appetier does not take, route, or manage Grubhub orders, and it charges nothing on them. They stay in Grubhub's own tools, under your Grubhub plan. The point is to move your regulars onto your own ordering site, where the Growth fee applies instead. A marketplace can bring guests who would never find you otherwise, so keep it for that.

Grubhub fee questions

What is the Grubhub delivery fee for restaurants?

What are Grubhub fees besides commission?
Grubhub says its rates do not include payment processing fees, and its pricing page states no amount for them. It lists no platform or maintenance fee.
Do I pay the delivery fee if I deliver myself?
No. Grubhub lists self delivery with zero delivery fees, so you pay only the marketing commission for your plan.
Does Appetier charge a fee on Grubhub orders?
No. Appetier does not receive or route Grubhub orders and charges nothing on them. Its Growth fee applies only to orders placed directly with your restaurant.
How do I pay Grubhub less in fees?
A regular who orders on your own site pays no marketplace commission. On Appetier you pay the flat Growth fee plus card processing instead, and whether that costs less depends on your sales mix.
