Restaurant POS system

A restaurant POS system that runs on a tablet you own

Ring up cash and card sales and see every order in one list. Appetier POS is included in Growth at no extra cost, with no hardware to buy.

The Appetier POS sale screen on a countertop tablet on a stand. A menu of burgers, chicken, and shakes fills the left, and the bill on the right lists five items with subtotal, tax, and total above Cash and Card buttons.

Ring a sale

Tap items to build the bill. Every amount sits on its own line, and a removed item can be undone for 8 seconds.

Take cash with a number pad

Cash asks for the amount handed over, with an Exact key and rounded amounts, then shows change due. The sale can't finish while the amount is short.

The cash pad open over the sale screen. It shows the total due, the cash received, and what is still due, with an Exact key, rounded amounts, and a number pad.

Open any order from the list

Open orders sit above the menu with their number, table or guest, item count, and status. Tapping one shows its items and how long ago it came in.

An open dine-in order for table 4 beside the menu. A status chip reads Accepted, two lines list the items ordered, and a total sits at the bottom with a Back to sale button above.

Counter sales and online orders sit in different places

A shift runs better from one list.

  • Online orders show up on a screen of their own.
  • A counter sale never joins that list.
  • The cash count at close is a guess.
  • Nobody sees which order is running late.

Everything you ring up, on one register

What a counter needs, with each limit beside it.

01

One list of every order

Web, app, scheduled, kiosk, and in-store orders sit in one list. Staff accept, mark preparing or ready, or cancel with a reason. A chime sounds until someone accepts a new order, and one left too long shows as late.

02

Pause when the kitchen is full

Pause online ordering for 15, 30, or 60 minutes, or add 10, 20, or 30 minutes to prep time. Mark an item sold out from the counter. Checkout follows all three.

03

Every item within reach

Every category and item is a large tile on the screen. The bill reads like a receipt. Undo lasts 8 seconds. A sold out tile is greyed and can't be added.

04

Quick keys and one-tap payment

Quick keys hold what you sell most. Type a number first to set the quantity. Card and Cash are one tap each. Keys change only when a shift opens, so tiles stay put through service.

05

Comps, notes, and parked orders

Comp an item with a reason, add a note, or park an order and come back to it. A comp above your limit needs another manager's PIN.

06

Receipts and a cash drawer

Print receipts on a standard receipt printer. A drawer plugged into the printer pops open on a cash sale, and the console shows expected and counted cash each shift. Printing keeps working offline.

07

Cash and card in the store

Sell for cash or card at your menu prices. Cash keeps working offline and goes through when the connection returns. A card sale needs a connection and a card reader, and carries the card fee.

08

A screen for how you serve

Pick a layout for a dining room with split checks, a bar with tabs, a food truck, a mobile bar, catering, or a private event. Staff sign in by name and PIN, so each sale names who rang it. A device uses one layout at a time, switched in Settings.

09

Rewards at the register

A guest shows a wallet code, the cashier scans it, and their rewards appear to apply. The register needs a connection. It sees the rewards only, never a name, email, phone, or balance. A guest can reissue a shared code.

Turn a tablet into a register

Use a tablet you already own. The menu is the one you run in the console.

01

Make a register code

In the console, pick the location and make a register code. It works once and expires in ten minutes.

02

Enter it on the tablet

Once the tablet takes the code, your menu is on the screen, with its prices and sold out items.

03

Add staff and a printer

Give each person a name and a PIN. Add a receipt printer if you want paper, and pick the layout that fits how you serve.

The register reads your console menu

Items, prices, and sold out status come from the console, so there's one menu to keep right. Take a test drive to see yours.

Keep your POS, or run the counter on Appetier

Connecting a POS is optional. If yours accepts orders, they print there. If it only shares its menu, prices and sold-out items stay matched and orders run on Appetier's order screen.

Restaurant POS system FAQs

What owners ask before a tablet becomes a register.

How much does the restaurant POS system cost?
Appetier POS is included in Growth at no extra cost, with no per-device fee. Counter sales count toward your direct sales, like online orders, whether paid by cash, on a reader, or on the guest's phone. A location pays nothing under $500 of direct sales in a month, and never more than $199.
What hardware does a restaurant POS need?
A tablet you already own. Add one of our card readers to take cards on Appetier Pay, a receipt printer for paper, and a cash drawer plugged into the printer. All three are optional. Most standard receipt printers work, including any that support ESC/POS.
Can I keep the POS I already use?
Yes. Orders print in your POS when it accepts them. If it only shares its menu, orders run on Appetier's order screen instead. The integrations page covers each case.
Does it work without internet?
Cash sales do, and they go through in order when the connection returns. A card sale needs a connection. Printing and the cash drawer keep working on your local connection.
Can it take cards and print receipts?
Yes. Take cards on Appetier Pay with a reader from us. You can also keep your provider's reader on your own merchant account, if it can connect to Appetier by API, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi. A card sale carries the card fee. After a card or cash sale, staff print a receipt or skip it, and a past order can be printed again.
We run on paper tickets today. How do we switch?
Get a code from the console and type it on the tablet. Your menu appears on the screen. Staff sign in by name and PIN, so each sale names who rang it.
