Restaurant fees explained, and what to ask about each

Every fee that can sit on a restaurant software bill: what it is, what to ask a vendor, and what Appetier charges.

Monthly fee	A flat charge every month, whether or not you took an order.	What do I pay in a month with no orders, and does the price change when I add a location?	Growth has no monthly fee. A month with no direct orders costs nothing.
Per-order fee	A charge on each order, either a flat amount or a share of the sale.	Do you take a cut of each order, and does it grow as I sell more?	No order carries a commission. Each location pays one flat fee a month, set by its direct sales: nothing under $500, and never more than $199.
Fee added to the guest's bill	A service or convenience charge your guests pay on top of the menu price.	Does checkout add a fee for my guests, and who keeps it?	Appetier adds no service fee to what guests pay. A fee you set yourself shows at checkout, and you keep it.
Setup fee	A one-time charge to build your site, load your menu, or turn the service on.	What do I pay before my first order, and does loading the menu cost extra?	Growth has no setup fee. A first location goes live in minutes from a logo and a photo of your menu.
Contract and early termination	How long you commit, and what it costs to leave before the term ends.	Is there a minimum term, and what do I owe if I leave early?	Month to month, with no minimum term. You can cancel any time.
Hardware lease	Rent or financing on a terminal, tablet, or kiosk, often tied to a contract.	Do I have to lease or buy your hardware, and what happens to the lease if I leave?	No lease. Appetier POS and the kiosk run on tablets you own and are included in Growth, with no add-on and no per-device fee. Card readers from us work with Appetier Pay at the store price. You can keep your provider's readers if they connect to Appetier.
Card processing markup	The rate charged each time a guest pays by card, and anything a vendor adds on top.	Which processor do I have to use, and what is the full rate for an online payment?	2.9% + 30¢ online, 2.6% + 15¢ in person with Appetier Pay. Or keep your merchant account and its readers, at your provider's rates. Appetier Pay takes cards in person only on a reader from us. A card staff type in costs 3.5% + 15¢..
Per-location or per-user fees	A charge for each location you open, or for each person who logs in.	What does a second location cost, and is anything billed per login?	Each location pays its own fee, set by that location's direct sales and capped at $199. Nothing is billed per login.
Extra fees for apps or loyalty	Add-on prices for a branded app, a loyalty program, or gift cards.	Which of these cost extra, and is anything priced by feature?	iPhone and Android apps under your name, loyalty, gift cards, and Voice (AI phone answering and the AI drive-thru lane) come with Growth at no extra cost. Voice includes 1,000 phone minutes a location each month.
