AI phone ordering

AI phone answering for restaurants that takes the order while you cook

Sous picks up your restaurant's phone, takes pickup orders at your real prices, and works the drive-thru speaker, while allergy questions still reach your team.

Works withand any system that gives you API access

The phone rings hardest when nobody can pick up

During the rush, the phone competes with the line. The line wins.

  • Calls ring out during the dinner rush.
  • A cook leaves the grill to read the menu aloud.
  • Phone orders get written down, then keyed in again.
  • A caller hears a price the POS no longer charges.
  • Cars stack up at the speaker while the crew is short.

Sous answers, takes the order, and sends it to the kitchen

Sous is Appetier's AI agent, your second in command. On the phone, it works from the same menu, hours, and prices as your online ordering.

01

Every call answered

Sous picks up and says in its first sentence that it's an automated assistant. A caller who asks for a person is transferred to your phone.

02

Pickup orders at your prices

Each phone order is priced by the same checkout as your website, so Sous can't set or change a price.

03

Sold out means sold out

A dish that's sold out, or an order outside your hours, is refused on the call. Sous tells the caller why, and no order is placed.

04

Orders print in your POS

A phone order reaches your POS and kitchen display like any online order. Sous reads back the order code and the ready time before hanging up.

05

No card on the call

Guests pay when they pick up. Sous never asks for a card number, so no card details are spoken or stored.

06

Tables booked by phone

Where you take reservations, callers can book a table with Sous. Nobody at the host stand has to stop and write it down.

07

No recordings kept

Appetier keeps no audio and no transcript. A call leaves only its length, how it ended, and the order it made.

Sous at the drive-thru speaker

The same agent takes orders in your lane while the crew works the window. Their headsets stay live the whole time.

01

Orders taken at the speaker

Sous greets the car, answers menu questions, and quotes the order from your real prices. The ticket reaches the kitchen with a drive-thru badge.

02

Your crew can take any car

Anyone on the crew can take over a car at any point. Sous goes quiet and your team finishes the order.

03

Order ahead, then "I'm in the lane"

Guests order ahead on your site or app and choose drive-thru pickup. When they pull in, they tap "I'm in the lane" and the kitchen sees them at the window.

04

Check in with an order code

A guest who ordered ahead can read their order code at the speaker. Sous checks them in and waves them forward, with no second order.

05

Hard questions go to people

Allergy questions, a guest who wants a person, and orders over your limit go straight to the crew. So does a guest Sous can't understand after two tries.

06

A lane limit you set

Lane minutes cost 3¢ each, apart from phone minutes. When the month reaches your lane limit, the lane goes back to the crew and charges stop.

Your phone number stays the one guests know

Phone ordering needs pay at pickup turned on for that location. There's nothing to install for the phone.

01

Turn on phone ordering

Pick the location in the console and switch it on. Appetier gives that location its own number for Sous.

02

Forward your calls

The console shows the steps to forward your current line. Guests keep dialing the number on your menu and your Google listing.

03

Set your limits

Choose the largest order Sous takes by phone and how much overage you allow, and pause it anytime.

AI phone ordering FAQs

What owners ask before Sous picks up their phone.

What does AI phone answering cost?
On Growth, add the Voice add-on. It's $49 a month per location, covers both the phone and the drive-thru lane, and includes 1,000 phone minutes. Enterprise includes it with 2,000 minutes a location.
What happens when the minutes run out?
Extra minutes cost 3¢ each, up to the overage limit you set. Your limit starts at zero. Until you raise it, calls past the allowance ring through to your restaurant and nothing more is billed.
Can guests pay by card over the phone?
No. Phone orders are pay at pickup, and Sous never asks for a card number. A location has to accept pay at pickup before phone ordering can be turned on.
What if a caller asks about allergies?
Sous transfers the call to your restaurant and doesn't answer it. The same goes for anyone who asks for a person, or an order over your limit.
Do phone orders count toward the Growth fee?
Yes. A phone order is a direct order, so it counts like a web order and stops counting once the location reaches its monthly cap. The Voice add-on is the one flat charge on Growth.
How are drive-thru lane minutes billed?
Every lane minute costs 3¢ on its own line, and none come out of your phone minutes. You set a monthly lane limit. At that limit, the crew takes the lane and charges stop.
Does Appetier record my calls?
No. Appetier keeps no audio and no transcript. Each call record holds only its length, how it ended, and the order it made.
